Welcome to Communication, Technology and Leadership

Well, If you are reading this blog you have successfully added me to your friend's list. I have read and graded your blogs and I must say that you are all off to a good start. I'm really excited to teach this class which means that I'm excited to share your lives for a semester.

I have some rules I would like you to follow
  • have fun
  • trust yourself
  • don't overthink things
  • be creative
  • relax
You will probably hear these comments several times this semester so I just wanted to give you a heads up. See I'm a preschool teacher way down deep so my teaching technique is all about the process. I plan to trust you to learn as you explore, just the way I would with a group of children in my classroom. But as adult learners, you have some advantages and some hindrances.

The biggest advantage is that you can read and research.
The biggest hindrance is that you might not have had permission to trust yourself in learning before.

I can already tell this class is going to be a good one!

Organizing life

If you are having trouble getting to your homework and coordinating life with school, please use a paper calendar so you can record due dates for assignments. Then check on this on Sunday 9 or whatever day is your designated study day. You will find it simpler to keep track of your work.

Mid Term

I have graded all papers that were due by mid term. If you want to know your grade for the class, email me and I will give you  your grade. For mid term, there were 598 points due. So if you look in the grade book and see 50% percent, that is about the total for the semester.

Having said that, remember, that just because you are making an A for midterm does not mean you will finish the semester with an A. You will need to finish the work for the semester. Just because you have less than an A does not mean you will be unsuccessful at the end. Get your work in.

Now, for those of you who do not have all the 1A,1B,2A, and 2B there is a twist in the grading system. You get 100 points for having ALL the assignments turned in. This is an ALL OR NOTHING point. It is to your advantage to have all the proficiency projects turned in. there is no sliding scale. so if you have 3/4 turned in, that is still a 0-zero. only all four will gain 100 points.

When you have all assignments finished, that includes the observations, you may schedule your final presentation via Skype.
